Then he presents the most diversified collection of vampire accounts yet published in English. The historical vampirana includes accounts by such persons as a first-century Roman historian, a twelfth-century bishop, a Cambridge philosopher in the 1600s, the two major vampire experts - Calmet and Summers, and a nineteenth-century Yankee journalist. The literary pieces include: 'Carmilla' a classic tale by Le Fanu; a short story by Bram Stoker which was originally intended as the first chapter of 'Dracula'; a moving tale by Lawrence Durrell; and several thrillers by such masterful writers as Robert Bloch and Richard Matheson." Minor edge wear, very light wrinkling at top of spine, faint pencilled previous owner's name at top of free front endpaper. Dust jacket has minor edge wrinkling, three tiny edge tears - archivally taped, small creases at top edge of front flap and at bottom corner of rear flap.
