91 pp, 11" H. B&w and colour photographs, elevations, floor plans. "The brothers Edward and William S. Maxwell of Montreal were among Canada's foremost architects at the turn of the century. Their work includes city and country houses, railway stations, hotels, government buildings, and cultural institutions, among them such landmarks as the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, the tower block of the Chateau Frontenac and the original 1912 building of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Published on the occasion of the travelling exhibition (of the same name), this catalogue constitutes the first comprehensive study of a firm whose buildings span the country. The fruit of the Maxwell's collaboration is illustrated with watercolour renderings, elevation drawings and photographs. In addition, the architects' relationship with their clients and the firm's close co-operation with craftsmen and artists is examined." Interior - book slightly cracked at centre, otherwise clean and tight with no other ownership marks. Exterior - very small piece of surface paper loss at bottom of spine, light crease down spine.
