120 pp, 9" H. B&w and color photographs, patterns, diagrams. "The evolution of footwear from the eighth century B.C. to the present provides fascinating social history. Nancy Bush has delved into museum archives to find the best socks from a host of folk-knitting traditions. She has designed eighteen delightful pairs of socks inspired by these traditions, and the result is patterns for sturdy boot socks, handsome knicker socks, lacy stockings, kilt hose and more. A section of techniques includes an unsurpassed collection of heel turnings and toe shapings - and it's all here for knitters of all levels of experience. Nancy's interest in traditional hand knitting came via a degree in Art History and studies in color design and weaving in San Francisco and Sweden." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - light edge wear, a few very small and tiny scuffs on covers, one light cease down spine.
