57 pp, small 4to (10 7/8" H). Profusely illustrated in b&w with photographs, patterns and drawings showing techniques. "(P)rofessional carver Harold Enlow uses simple steps to produce distinctive features on his folk figures. Following the step-by-step instructions and numerous illustrations, you can make any of ten projects conceived by the Dogpatch, Arkansas wood carver: Bust of an Old Man; Grandpa with a Cane; Granny Sweeping; Bust of a Young Girl; Little Girl with a Rag Doll; Barefoot Boy with Frog; Retirement Fund; Concertina Player; Indian Bust; Cigar-Store Indian. Naturally, the projects do increase in difficulty, especially with the last four projects, which are several times larger than the earlier ones. The method is purposeful, though, for it is designed to prepare you to tackle the culmination of folk figure carving, the cigar-store Indian. Whether you are experienced or just beginning, you will fnd these folk figures a charming and challenging collection to carve." Interior - very light browning to page edges, otherwise clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - light edge wear, light browning to edges of rear cover, minor rubbing.
