230 pp, 4to (11" H), soft cover. INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR ON TITLE PAGE. B&w reproductions, maps. "A brief introduction reviews the geographic, temporal and philatelic scope of this research. This is followed by an office-by-office historical sketch, illustrations of the markings and a listing of their known usages...Features: All impressions of devices used to cancel mail from N.W.T. post offices and accompanying registration boxes are illustrated in full size; Each cancellation has been assigned a general type code and an individual numerical suffix. (Many offices have more than one marking of a a certain type.); 13 detailed topographical maps; Important data for each post office including status, location, population of area, origin of name and name changes; Historical sketches of the settlements relating to the most significant events; The proof date (of hammers) where known; Earliest and latest dates known for cancels; Appendices including the Eastern Arctic Patrol Ship itineraries; A special feature of this study is the inclusion of United States Army Post Offices located in the N.W.T." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - very light edge wear - a little more on front edge of spine, minor rubbing, soft creases at rear corners with light migration into adjacent pages, flat uncreased spine. VG
