420 pp, small 4to (10 3/16" H), hard cover in dust jacket. Map endpapers, b&w photographs, fold-out maps. "The second volume of the history of The Royal Canadian Regiment describes difficulties of peacetime service during the Depression, three yea rs in Britain after the outbreak of the Second World War, participation in the Sicilian campaign, the drive up Italy, the heavy fighting on the lower Adriatic front, the battle for Rome, on the Gothic Line and on the river lines of the nort h e r n I t a l ian plains; finally, the clearing of Holland and the disarmament of the enemy. After reconstitution in Canada there followed service in three battalions under United Nations command in the Korean campaign and subsequent duties at h om e an d a br oa d. The narrative closes with one battalion in Germany and the other at point of leaving for Cyprus. The story is written not only for this but for the next generation of The Regiment with commentaries and backgrounds which will m ake e ven ts i nte lli gib l e in years to come." Boards have faint line indentations at top/bottom of both boards. Dust jacket has very light lne indentations at top/bottom of panels and light waviness on spine. Very Good+/Very Good+
