311 pp, small 8vo (8" H). Volume One of The Canada Series, edited by F.P. Grove. Fold-out b&w map at rear, b&w illustrations. "This is the journal of the first transcanadian tourist. Before him others either on business, exploration or duty, had crossed overland from Eastern Canada to British Columbia. But Walter Butler Cheadle was the first to traverse the whole country from the Saint Lawrence to the Pacific simply 'for pleaseure', for the sheer enjoyment of seeing new lands, hunting the buffalo and visiting the gold regions of Cariboo - ." Pages and eps browning lightly, small tear at bottom of inside front hinge. Edges of textblock dust stained, light edgewear to boards, small areas of tape residue on front/rear boards near bottom of spine, spine/front cover lettering/decoration faded.
