"Of all the honors that Dray Prescot, Earthman, had won during his fabulous adventures on Kregen, planet of Antares in Scorpio, none were valued by him more than his membership in the Order of the Krozairs of Zy. The Krozairs were the highest order of chivalry on that turbulent planet, dedicated men, warriors of stern conviction and unflinching hearts. Thus when the Krozairs in their hour of need called on all their far-flung members for aid, he should have come. But he did not. His return had been blocked by the anger of the mysterious Star Lords. Before Prescot could achieve redemption, he had two armies opposed to him, two warring kingdoms naming him outlaw, and only the tides of the seven moons as a weapon." Doubleday, Garden City, New York, 1968.
348 pp, 8vo (8 3/8" H), hard cover in dust jacket. Map endpapers. "In the old Danish Virgin Islands, around the turn of the Eighteenth Century, the gulf between white plantation owner and black slave was wide and deep. Brutality on the part of th e one engendered hatred and fear in the other - and finally, a burning desire for vengeance. The night of Prince's birth, in a slave hut at Fortuna plantation, a terrible hope and a prophecy were born with him. As this exciting historical n o v e l u n folds, the fulfillment of those auguries touched many lives in many different ways. Based in part on actual people and events, 'Muscavado' is steeped in the lore and romance of the Virgin Islands of Denmark. It is a tale of forbidd e n lo ve b et w ee n the daughter of a white planation owner and a mulatto slave, where discovery meant death for both. It is the story of a desperate struggle for freedom and its savage consequences. Above all, it is the story of the workings o f a sin ist er voo do o p ro phecy and its legacy of passion, violence, terror, and despair. Today, Fortuna plantation, where Prince toiled in the cane fields, is a crumbled ruin, overgrown with thornbush. 203 pp, large 8vo (9 1/2" H). B&w photographs, maps, drawings. "Only five minutes from launch to impact: not even enough time to give an air raid alert. They could not be tracked: they travelled too high and too fast to be shot down. These were the rocket 'Vengeance Weapons', launched in addition to the flying bombs in retaliation for British and American bombing raids on German cities. Damage inflicted upon London was considerable: 198 were killed by a flying bomb in the Aldwych, hundreds died at New Cross, and over one hundred civilians lost their lives in Smithfield Market. (The author) examines the effects of the V-1 flying bombs and V-2 rockets on a capital still showing the scars of the 1940-41 blitz. On 6th June 1944, only a few hours after the D-Day landings, orders were passed down from German High Command to prepare the 'Vengeance Weapons' for an immediate assault on Britain." 13 Johnson, David. V-1, V-2: HITLER'S VENGEANCE ON LONDON.
New York Stein and Day 1982 0812828585 / 9780812828580 First American Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good-
203 pp, 9 1/2" H. B&w photographs, maps. "The full story of the year Hitler's guided missiles fell on London. Only five minutes from launch to impact - not even enough time to sound an air raid alert. They could not be tracked and they traveled too high and too fast to be shot down. - This is no scenario of World War III, but the story of the development of the Nazi's secret weapons and the devastation they wrought that, given a little more time, might have turned the tide of World War II. Seen through the eyes of the Germans who devised and launched these weapons, as well as the people on the receiving end, here is an unprecedented 'you are there' reconstruction of those times when the death throes of the Nazi empire claimed tens of thousands of Allied civilian casualties. (The author) interviewed eyewitnesses on both sides of the Atlantic while researching 'V-1/V-2', and he was given access to previously classified documents and photographs." Light creasing on spine, one tiny corner bump. Dust jacket has very light browning on inside of flaps and spine, two small tears archivally taped - one on edge and one on front hinge, very light rubbing.

There was no fixed front - attackers broke through, were repelled, suddenly found themselves cut off behind the enemy's forward surge. Everywhere the hulks of blackened rusting vehicles stood isolated against the all-pervading whitenes s. Casualties were high, supplies almost exhausted.
