1 Cappel, Robert P. Edited by Thomas R. Myers. S.W.A.T. TEAM MANUAL. PALADIN FM-1698. (SWAT)
Paladin Press, Boulder, Colorado, 1979.
134 pp, small 4to (10 15/16" H), soft cover (three-hole punched). ISBN 0873641698 B&w illustrations. "The contents of this manual provide guidance and insight into operational procedures, tactics, and theories pertaining to Special Weapons and Ta ctics (SWAT) Operations. This manual is by no means 'all inclusive'. However, as one who has researched this subject in depth during the past six years, I will say it is the most definitive and complete manual know to me at this time. Th i s m a n u a l does not prescribe departmental policy in any given situation, rather, it provides information and illustrates procedures that will be required to make a sound decision when employing a SWAT unit." Interior - light cigarette odor, p re v io us o wn er 's small stamp on inside of front cover, small soft crease in top margin of pages, tiny crease at top corner of pages, small bump at top edge of first 58 pages and at bottom edge of all apges. Exterior - scattered tiny foxin g m ark s on cov ers , v ery li ght edge wear, light creases/bumps on front cover. Good reference copy.

MOONWALKING WITH EINSTEIN: THE ART AND SCIENCE OF REMEMBERING EVERYTHING., Foer, Joshua.
2 Foer, Joshua. MOONWALKING WITH EINSTEIN: THE ART AND SCIENCE OF REMEMBERING EVERYTHING.
New York Penguin 2011 159420229X / 9781594202292 4th Printing Hard Cover Very Good+ Very Good+
307 pp, large 8vo (9 1/2" H). "On average, people squander forty days annually compensating for things they've forgotten. Joshua Foer used to be one of those people. But after a year of memory training, he found himself in the finals of the U.S. Memory Championship. Even more important, he found a vital truth we too often forget: In every way that matters, we are the sum of our memories. (This book) draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of memory, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human remembering. Under the tutelage of top 'mental athletes', Foer learns ancient techniques once employed by Cicero to memorize his speeches and by medieval scholars to memorize entire books. Using methods that have been largely forgotten, he discovers that we can all dramatically improve our memories." Light wrinkling at bottom of spine. Dust jacket has minor wear and tiny tear at top of front flap-fold.

THE MEMOIRS OF PRIVATE WATERFIELD, SOLDIER IN HER MAJESTY'S 32nd REGIMENT OF FOOT (DUKE OF CORNWALL'S LIGHT INFANTRY) 1842-57., Swinson, Arthur and Scott, Donald, editors. Foreword by Arthur Swinson. (Robert Waterfield.)
4 Swinson, Arthur and Scott, Donald, editors. Foreword by Arthur Swinson. (Robert Waterfield.) THE MEMOIRS OF PRIVATE WATERFIELD, SOLDIER IN HER MAJESTY'S 32nd REGIMENT OF FOOT (DUKE OF CORNWALL'S LIGHT INFANTRY) 1842-57.
Cassell, London, 1968, first edition.
188 pp, 8vo (8 1/2" H), hard cover in dust jacket. Color frontispiece, b&w maps/battle plans. "Waterfield, a Leicester man, enlisted in the 32nd at Portsmouth and in 1846 was trooped to India, where he spent eleven years. He saw action at the Sie ge of Multan and at the Battle of Gujerat (which allowed Lord Dalhousie to annexe the Punjab), and took part in dozens of minor actions and skirmishes. He received his discharge just before the Indian Mutiny, and his dairy thus forms a co n t i n u o u s n arrative with the record of the Mutiny diarist of the 32nd, Private Metcalfe. Waterfield's diary was frank and outspoken, even by the standards of modern soldiers. He writes of the harsh discipline of the Army, the drab soldier' s mi nu ti ae o f bi l le ts, guard duty, of executions ('military murders'), church parades and hospitals. He carefully notes the states of roads, bridges and river journeys, the effects of artillery and controlled fire-power, and the deteriorati ng ef fic ien cy of un its o f a n ill-equipped, largely ill-cared for Army in extreme conditions of climate. His diary is a sidelight on the growth of Empire, but an important contribution to our knowledge of the 'British in India' in the years bef ore the wate rsh ed of the Mut iny brought sweeping changes in the British administration and in the Army which maintained peace in the great sub-continent. And it is interesting to read that Waterfield could observe, a generation before Kiplin g, t hat 'The Pte. Sol die r i s no t ha lf c ared for. In time of War they are thought much of, in time of peace....a pariah Dog'. Previous owners small stamp on each of the front endpapers, areas of very light browning on half-title page and o n las t pa ge, v ery li ght b rown ing to ed ges o f tex tblock. Dust jacket has light rubbing, minor soiling. Very Good+/Very Good
