155 pp, 8vo (8 3/4" H). B&w photographs, reproductions, maps, family trees. "Merigold's Point was the name given to a small formation of land jutting out into Lake Ontario, west of the Credit River. It consisted of the surveyed lots 27-33 and their broken fronts in Concessions 3 and 4, south of Dundas Street (S.D.S.), Toronto Township. Today, most of this land is owned by Gulf Canada, which is situated at the foot of Southdown Road and the Lake Shore Highway in Clarkson, Mississauga. Merigold's Point was part of the first purchase within the Mississauga Tract in 1805. Following the survey by Samuel Wilmot in 1806, settlers began to arrive - one of the first being Thomas Merigold, who settled there with several families from New Brunswick, forming a new neighbourhood which came to be known as Merigold's Point." Unpaginated (approx. 128 mimeographed pages with printing on one side only - versos blank), 11 3/8" H. Black folder with two-hole metal slide binding, typed label bearing title on front cover. An unedited (and unpublished) manuscript by the author of "The Furniture of Old Ontario". The alphabetically arranged listings (by potter or pottery) contain varying amounts of information, from two-line entries giving only the name, location and in what year(s) reference is found for them, to multiple-page entries for potters/potteries like Flack & Van Arsdale, Glass Bros., Hart Bros. & Lazier and William E. Welding. Interior - a little colour offset from inside of card covers on adjacent pages, otherwise clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - light rubbing, light edge wear, the front cover has a very soft crease down the middle and a small crease at the top corner.
