This book discusses "the care, repair and restoration of antique firearms - offering to the collector the fascinating additional interest of maintaining and improving his specimens. By developing his skill in this way the collector, in addition to deriving pleasure from the actual work and pride of achievement, will quickly develop an almost infallible eye for quality workmanship. The book describes and illustrates methods of completely stripping down, cleaning and reassembling the early firearms most commonly met today. It deals with the various problems arising from rust, stubborn screws, damaged and missing parts involving repairs or replace-ments, and general restoration work of a more ambitious nature. Information is given about the making of tools where these are no longer commercially available. Methods of housing the collection are discussed, and a chapter is devoted to the special technique of photographing firearms for the purpose of keeping records."
