1 Ainsworth, Ruth. MORE TALES OF SHELLOVER
New York Roy 1968 First American Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good- Antony Maitland
125 pp, 8" H. Charming b&w illustations by Kate Greenaway Medal winner Antony Maitland. "Shellover (a tortoise) woke up with his head full as ever with wonderful stories. Mrs. Candy and her pets: the cat, the dog, the cow and the chickens are entranced with all the new stories. There are green-clad dancers who vanish at cockcrow. A strange feathered child hatches from a speckled egg. A baby is fished out of the sea. Ordinary-seeming children make snowmen who can talk, and have a friend who is a witch. Shellover tells a new story about Minnie the cat, and her inquisitive kittens; another about two boys in an adventure playground; and the little girl and her friends, the horse and the hen. When Shellover gets sleepy this time, the pets decide to tell their own stories. The results are delightful!" Small letter "R" in red ink, birthday gift inscription and some soft creases on front free endpaper; one page with a dog-ear crease; very light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine; one tiny corner crease; tiny mark on bottom of text block; very light edge wear; two tiny dints on top edge of front board. Dust jacket has very light browning on spine, small light pink stain on inside of front panel, top edge and flap-folds; light edge wrinkling; wrinkling at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds with some tiny chips and tears; minor rubbing and soiling.

MR MISTOFFELEES with MUNGOJERRIE AND RUMPELTEAZER., Eliot, T.S.
3 Eliot, T.S. MR MISTOFFELEES with MUNGOJERRIE AND RUMPELTEAZER.
London Faber and Faber 1990 057115347X / 9780571153473 First British Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good Errol le Cain.
Unpaginated, oblong (7 1/2" H x 10 3/8" D). Two poems from T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats", wonderfully illustrated by Errol le Cain. "Mr Mistoffelees appears with Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer on the streets and in the drawing-rooms of fashionable London. Whether he is juggling with the family silver or producing kittens from a hat, Mr Mistoffelees confounds his audience with the diversity and elegance of his magical skills. Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer are up to tricks of a different kind. Acting with a wicked disregard for other people's property, they behave extremely badly and - such is their adroitness and charm - get away with it in style." Minor lean to spine, very minor toning to edges of pages, very minor wear at top/bottom of spine and at corners. Dust jacket has light rubbing, minor wear at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds.

A FROG HE WOULD A WOOING GO. ROM ORIGINALS DESIGNS BY H.L. STEPHENS., Stephens, H.L. Foreword by Philip Hofer.
9 Stephens, H.L. Foreword by Philip Hofer. A FROG HE WOULD A WOOING GO. ROM ORIGINALS DESIGNS BY H.L. STEPHENS.
Walker and Company, New York, 1967, first printing.
Unpaginated, 10" H, hardcover with pictorial front board - no dust jacket. "H.L. Stephens (1824-1882, originally from Philadelphia, later working in New York) was a very good illustrator who has been accorded faint praise by the critics. The reaso n is largely the result of the poor reproductions in which his work appeared. That is why this edition of 'A Frog he Would A-Wooing Go' uses the original drawings by Stephens, which are at the moment in private hands at Harvard University, r a t h e r t han the reproductive lithographs of 1865 which were made from them. The difference is striking; for these drawings compare with the works of Stephens' far more celebrated contemporary John Tenniel, whose 'Alice in Wonderland', Londo n , 19 65 , fi rs t s aw the light of day in the same twelve months." 15 full page monotone illustrations with verses underneath. Slight wrinkling to bottom edges of pages, slight waviness due to dampness at bottom fore-edge of pages - light wate rm ar k o n l as t p age , min or to light soiling on boards - mainly on rear board, tiny bump at top of spine. Very Good-
