380 pp , 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, b&w frontispiece. Wells' humorous social novel about Alfred Kipps, an illegitimate orphan, raised by his elderly aunt & uncle. When he loses his job after an alcoholic evening with the actor, Chitterlow, all seems lost until an unexpected inheritance catapults him into a higher social strata. Light corner wear, light rub mark on rear cover. Slipcase has very light edge wear, light fading to some edges.
