Osprey, London, 1991, first edition.
128 pp, 11 7/8" H, hard cover in dust jacket. ISBN 1855321491 Profuesly illustrated with colour photographs. "Built to counter the seemingly invincible Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle has proven to be more than a match for any 'red' fighter interceptor for over 15 years. Carrying the all-seeing Hughes AN/APG-63 radar inside its massive radome, the interception capabilities of the Eagle have been matched only by its US Navy rival, the F-14 Tomcat. Although a large ae roplane, the Eagle is incredibly agile, with plenty of power from its twin afterburning Pratt & Whitney F-100 tubrofans. These allow a pilot to exploit the F-15 Eagle's suberb in-flight characteristics to the fullest extent. Entering frontline s q u adron service with the USAF's Tactical Air Command in late 1974, the F-15 has gone on to equip no less than six tactical fighter wings based in the USA, and one apiece in Germany and Japan. Five Air National Guard units also bolster the fron t li ne r anks with earlier version of the mighty Eagle. All USAF operators of the potent F-15 are graphically featured in this stunning volume. A chapter on the rarely illustrated Japanese Air Self-Defence Force complements the star-spangled F-1 5s ." Mi nor edge wear, small faint erasure mark at top of free front endpaper. Dust jacket has very light rubbing, some areas of light wrinkling at top edge. Very Good-/Very Good

F/A-18 HORNET., Braybrook, Roy.
10 Braybrook, Roy. F/A-18 HORNET.
Osprey, London, 1991, first edition.
128 pp, 11 7/8" H, hard cover in dust jacket. ISBN 1855321513 Profuesly illustrated with colour photographs. "The 'son' of the Northrop YF-17 Cobra, the Hornet grew both in weight and capability after being ordered by the Navy to replace the vene rable Vought A-7 Corsair II. Now an integral part of the modern carrier air wing, the F/A-18 has dramatically increased the capabilities of fighter and attack squadrons already embarked aboard the Navy's 15-strong carrier fleet. Not all Hornet s s p otted in American skies are Navy property though, the 'flying leathernecks' of the US Marine Corps having received their first F/A-18s at virtually the same time as the 'blue water' force. Over a dozen USMC squadrons are now equipped with th e v er sa tile Hornet. Travelling further afield, Canada, Australia, Spain and South Korea have all chosen the F/A-18 to fulfill the fighter/attack requirements of their respective air forces past the year 2000. (This book) takes you aboard ship w it h a f ron tline Navy squadron as they patrol the barren expanses of the Atlantic, or takes you on a scrub skimming attack sortie over the parched wastelands of the 'outback' with the Royal Australian Air Force." Book slightly cocked, very light edg e wear , sm all faint erasure mark on free front endpaper. Dust jacket has very light rubbing, light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, minor edge wrinkling. Very Good/Very Good

18 Dezarrois, Andre, editor. Translated from the French by Philip John Stead. (Rene Mouchotte.) THE MOUCHOTTE DIARIES, 1940-1943.
London Staples Press 1956 First British Edition Hard Cover Very Good - Fair
221 pp, 8 3/4" H. Frontispiece. "This is the famous Rene who was transformed by three years of war from an unknown pilot of the Reserve into one of the great leaders of Free France in the air, Pierre Clostermann's hero and commanding officer. In 1940 Rene made his daring escape from Oran in an unserviceable plane seized from under the very noses of the authorities. This was a flight not away from danger, but into the thick of the Battle of Britain. He fought with the R.A.F. in Hurricanes and Spitfires, attacking enemy shipping, sweeping over France, giving air-cover to the Dieppe landing, duelling with the Luftwaffe. His exceptional courage and integrity, his powers of leadership and skill as an aerial tactician quickly won the admiration of his superiors. Rene's airborne career culminated at Biggin Hill where he commanded the fighter wing and it was he who shot down the 1,000th German plane recorded by the fighter group there shortly before his death. In the end, his greatest wish was granted, for he had written in his diary: 'If I am not to survive the war, let me at least have the satisfaction of falling to the enemy's fire'. The personal magnetism and sincerity of 'Commandant Rene' make (this) an original and valuable contribution to the literature of the war in the air." Motorbooks, Osceola, WI, 1988, first edition.
128 pp, small 4to (10 3/4" H), hard cover in dust jacket. ISBN 0879382864 "The enemies were numerous. The jungle heat and the broad sea, the North Vietnamese Air Force and their arch ace Colonel Tomb, the MiG-17s and MiG-21s. Points on the Ameri can side were our elite pilots, aircraft and weapons: the Thunderchiefs, Crusaders and, of course, Phantoms. The air battles of the Vietnam War were fierce; the victors earned their wings and the kill markings emblazoned on their planes. (Th i s b o o k) spotlights the duels between America's pilots and the MiGs in the skies over Southeast Asia. Most of all, this is a book about airplanes. Here are the Phantoms Colonel Robin Olds piloted to score four kills. The intrepid Skyhawk whi ch d o wn ed a MiG-17 with an unguided air-to-ground missile. And F-4 number 155880 which finally blew Hanoi's Colonel Tomb out of the sky, earning its pilot ace status. Here are the men and machines that flew Rolling Thunder and Linebacker I a nd II. Mil ita ry expert Robert F. Dorr has collected a superb gallery of glowing color photos - many of the contemporary - and written a detailed history, chock full of anecdotes."
