312 pp + list of 'Collin's Illustrated Pocket Classics', 16mo (6 1/8" H), thin burgundy leather over card covers/spine - gold lettering and decoration on spine, top edge gilt - in slipcase. Burgundy endpapers, sepiatone plates, including frontispiece, decorated title page. A novel of intrigue, miserliness, love and hypocrisy, set in Saumur, France in the first half of the 19th century. Gift inscription dated Xmas 1924 on rear of frontispiece. Minor edge wear - mainly at corners, small light scuff on rear cover. Slipcase has moderate corner wear and some areas of light edge wear.

Dust jacket has minor edge wear - mainly at top of spine, minor soiling, very light browning to spine. Very Good/Very Good
