Hong Kong, Macao, Tokyo, Honolulu, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, Geneva, Naples, Monte Carlo - these are his 'thrilling cities'. He writes about them brilliantly, impressionistically, as no one else would or could, ostensibly for our entertainment yet not without giving us the benefit of some expert observation." Bookstore label (small) at bottom of front pastedown, light browning to top/bottom edge of spine and hinge areas, very light toning to fore-edge and bottom of text block. 2 Fleming, Ian. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE.
London Jonathan Cape 1964 Second Impression. Hard Cover Very Good Very Good Richard Chopping dust jacket design.
256 pp, 7 5/8" H. Second impression April 1964, one month after the first. Black covers with silver lettering on spine, gold Japanese characters on front board. "Woodgrain" endpapers. "When Ernst Stavro Blofeld blasted into eternity the girl whom James Bond had married only hours before, the heart, the zest for life, went out of Bond. Incredibly, from being a top agent of the Secret Service, he had gone to pieces, was even on the verge of becoming a security risk. M is persuaded to give him one last chance - an impossible mission far removed from his usual duties - and Bond leaves for Japan. There, coming under the orders of the formidable 'Tiger' Tanaka, head of the Japanese Secret Service, the Koan-Chosa-Kyoku, he is indeed subjected to the shock treatment his condition demanded. Shock treatment? The reader will also be subjected to it in full measure in this, perhaps the most bizarre and doom-fraught of all James Bond's adventures." Previous owner's small name stamp (approx. 1" x 1/4") on front free endpaper, page 13, rear free endpaper and rear pastedown, two page leaves with tiny foxing mark at top corner, minor wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket is price clipped, has light edge wear/wrinkling - mainly at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, very light browning to spine, small light brown stain on inside of spine.

"Fifty-one years ago, an unknown writer called Ian Fleming sat down to write 'Casino Royale', giving birth to one of the most famous fictional characters ever created. (This) is the definitive guide to the world of Bond. Featuring the extraordinary individuals - including Connery, Moore, Brosnan, Cubby Broccoli and Flem in g - who made Bond, and with unprecedented access to the most recent films and stills from the early years, (the authors) present the ultimate history of a unique literary and cinematic icon."
